Las Vegas, NV SuperMotocross World Championship FinalSuperMotocross World Championship

The 2024 SuperMotocross World Championship (SMX) is done and dusted. You know Jett Lawrence and Haiden Deegan won the titles, but who finished tenth in both classes? Which riders gained the most positions in the playoffs? What about lost positions? Let’s dig into what you might have missed. The format may seem confusing, but the payout is pretty simple: get inside the top 22nd in the championship and you earn money. The higher you finish, the more money you earn. Here is our 250SMX points and championship payout, check out our 450SMX Class payout later today.

250SMX

1st Haiden Deegan | Championship Finish Payout: $500,000

Seeded entering playoffs: 1st | Championship finish: 1st

After a second sophomore Monster Energy AMA Supercross season and a fantastic title run in the AMA Pro Motocross Championship, Deegan entered the playoffs with the #1 plate and the #1 seeding. The second-generation rider won the first five motos and finished second in the final moto, easily clinching his second straight 250SMX title. All that is left for Deegan now is a 250SX title… After buying a sports car recently, Deegan said he might get another rental property with this payout.

2nd Tom Vialle | Championship Finish Payout: $250,000

Seeded entering playoffs: 2nd | Championship finish: 2nd

Vialle had a late surge in supercross that saw him claim the 250SX East Region Championship. he finished second in the AMA Pro Motocross Championship behind Deegan and then finished second in the SMX championship. A damn good year for the French rider, with a nice championship bonus to top it off.

3rd Pierce Brown | Championship Finish Payout: $150,000

Seeded entering playoffs: 7th | Championship finish: 3rd

Brown’s first career win at the finale not only was big for his future, but also his bank account! Brown was seventh entering the SMX Playoffs and sat there through the second playoff round but jumped to third in the standings thanks to his win. Huge day all around for the Utah native.

4th Jo Shimoda | Championship Finish Payout: $100,000

Seeded entering playoffs: 4th | Championship Finish: 4th

Shimoda was solid in the playoffs, finishing where he was seeded when the playoffs started. Still, a six-figure payout for the Honda HRC Progressive rider.

5th Jordon Smith | Championship Finish Payout: $50,000

Seeded entering playoffs: 6th | Championship Finish: 5th

Smith was, again, really good in the SMX Playoffs for the second straight year. In his final ride with Monster Energy Yamaha Star Racing, he delivered third overall.

6th Levi Kitchen | Championship Finish Payout: $25,000

Seeded entering playoffs: 3rd | Championship Finish: 6th

Kitchen is the first rider to lose positions in the playoffs. He would have entered in second had he not tweaked his knee and suffered a DNF in the Ironman National final moto of the season where he did not score points. Although SMX was not great, Kitchen had a great first year on the Monster Energy/Pro Circuit Kawasaki and nets an extra $25,000 by doing so.

7th Julien Beaumer | Championship Finish Payout: $18,000

Seeded entering playoffs: 9th | Championship finish: 7th

Beaumer scored his first career overall podium (second overall) and led laps for the first time as a pro at the North Carolina round. With a solid SMX season, the Arizona native wrapped up a solid first full year of racing.

From seventh down in the 250SMX Class, the pay per position does not move too much. But check out who made the most of the playoffs and jumped multiple positions.

8th Max Anstie | Championship Finish Payout: $17,000

Seeded entering playoffs: 12th | Championship Finish: 8th

Anstie not racing the first half of Pro Motocross saw him ranked outside the top ten heading into the playoffs. He was solid and moved up four positions, giving him a couple extra thousand dollars from the championship payout.

9th Ty Masterpool | Championship Finish Payout: $16,000

Seeded entering playoffs: 11th | Championship finish: 9th

Masterpool did not have the super impressive SMX go he did last year in the 450SMX Class while dealing with his appendicitis, but he jumped up two spots and earned an extra $2,000 by doing so.

10th Cameron McAdoo |Championship Finish Payout: $15,000

Seeded entering playoffs: 23rd, No points | Championship finish: 10th

McAdoo is the first rider on the list with a big jump in the right direction. Missing all of Pro Motocross saw the Kawasaki rider enter the playoffs out of a guaranteed spot into the motos. Doing it the hard way and racing the LCQ at all three SMX events, McAdoo got the job done. He needed the gate drops, and he delivered solid results and an extra $15,000 into his bank account.

11th Ryder DiFrancesco | Championship Finish Payout: $14,000

Seeded entering playoffs: 10th | Championship finish: 11th

DiFrancesco wrapped up a solid first year with GasGas with solid results in SMX.

12th Garrett Marchbanks | Championship Finish Payout: $13,000

Seeded entering playoffs: 19th | Championship finish: 12th

Marchbanks raced 250SX West Region in supercross then jumped to the 450 Class in Pro Motocross but missed the first half of the season with a wrist injury suffered on press day at Fox Raceway. By jumping up seven positions, Marchbanks not only doubled his purse payout but also got to race the final three MX rounds AND SMX with Kawasaki. That legitimate race experience he got back on the KX250 alone could be big for the 2025 season.

13th Nick Romano | Championship Finish Payout: $12,000

Seeded entering playoffs: 16th | Championship finish: 13th

Romano jumped a few spots in the SMX Playoffs but big picture, he put together a full year of racing after missing the entire 2023 season with a knee injury.

14th | Coty Schock | Championship Finish Payout: $11,000

Seeded entering playoffs: 15th | Championship finish: 14th

Schock jumped one position in the playoffs, although he suffered a DNF in the first moto at the finale, which saw him finish 22nd overall on the day, impacting his finish in the standings.

15th Jett Reynolds | Championship Finish Payout: $10,000

Seeded entering playoffs: 26th, no points | Championship finish: 15th

Like McAdoo, Reynolds did it the hard way each weekend through the LCQ. Good work for Reynolds to tough out through two injuries, one in SX and one in MX.

16th RJ Hampshire | Championship Finish Payout: $9,000

Seeded entering playoffs: 13th | Championship finish: 16th

Hampshire was working back to form entering the playoffs but had two big crashes. Not racing the finale dropped him a good bit in the standings.

17th Talon Hawkins | Championship Finish Payout: $8,000

Seeded entering playoffs: 22nd, no points | Championship finish: 22nd

Like McAdoo and Reynolds, Hawkins went from ground zero entering the playoffs with zero points and no guaranteed spot in the motos. The hard way, Hawkins got better at each SMX Playoff round and gained $8,000 by doing so.

18th Lux Turner | Championship Finish Payout: $7,000

Seeded entering playoffs: 36th (!), no points| Championship finish: 18th

The KTM rookie was not even going to race the SMX Playoffs but since a handful of riders ahead of him did not race, Turner lucked into the LCQs and got it done!

19th Chance Hymas | Championship Finish Payout: $6,000

Seeded entering playoffs: 5th | Championship finish: 19th

Hymas tweaked his already-injured left knee, which knocked him out of the SMX Playoffs and off of Team USA for the Monster Energy FIM Motocross of Nations. Missing out on a bigger purse payout suck, but Hymas is more than likely upset for not getting to race MXoN. Hopefully he gets the opportunity to race the event in the future.

20th Henry Miller | Championship Finish Payout: $5,000

Seeded entering playoffs: 30th, no points | Championship finish: 20th

Going through the LCQ, Miller jumped from no points to a five-grand payout, again the hard way of going through the LCQ. The Minnesota native also got better each round of the SMX Playoffs. Well done, Henry.

21st Jalek Swoll | Championship Finish Payout: $3,000

Seeded entering playoffs: 8th | Championship finish: 21st

One of the biggest movers in the playoffs is Swoll, who suffered a concussion just seconds into the first gate drop.

22nd Matti Jorgensen | Championship Finish Payout: $2,000

Seeded entering playoffs: 44th (!), no points | Championship finish: 22nd

Similar to Turner but even crazier, Jorgensen was nowhere near a qualifying spot but got to race. The payout might not be much, but the #245 machine got into three of the six total motos and got some experience.

23rd through 32nd | No Championship Money Payout

Riders such as Daxton Bennick and Joey Savatgy (did not race SMX Playoffs), Casey Cochran and Nate Thrasher (both injured in SMX), and over a handful of other riders did not make the top 22 and therefore receive no payout from the championship.
