  • KTM Moves Off-Road Training Program to ClubMX, Cole Martinez Hired as Trainer

Cole Martinez has made a big life change. After a solid foray as a journeyman supercross and motocross racer, he switched to off-road and landed titles and race wins, and then also made noise on the amateur motocross scene as a vet racer. He has always been based on the west coast, but has now moved to South Carolina-based training facility ClubMX where he will focus on training others. The facility is continuing to grow and adapt in impressive fashion.

It seems with Kailub Russell ‘s contract ending with KTM and a returning to racing with the AmPro Yamaha team, the KTM factory off-road team is in need of a new facility for the riders to use for training. ClubMX is said to be preparing an off-road section for those riders, and Martinez will lead the group as a trainer. Check out the full press release below.

Cole Martinez Joins ClubMX

The successful veteran brings his skills to the east coast.

CHESTERFIELD, SC: The ClubMX Training Facility starts the new year off with the addition of Cole Martinez to the training staff. Martinez has a long and successful history in the sport and brings all that experience with him to the world’s finest training facility. His story comes full circle – starting with his introduction to a Yamaha PW50 in 1995 at the age of three years old. He started racing that same year and tore up the amateur ranks all around the Southwest. He turned professional in 2012 and took a circuitous path through the sport for the next seven years.

Martinez had moderate success in the AMA Supercross Championship 250 class scoring seven top tens and following that up with a string of top fifteens in the motocross championship aboard a 450 in his career. In 2015 he competed in the Canadian national motocross series with his success leading him to Europe where he won two championships in European Supercross series. By 2019, he joined the NGPC/WORCS Offroad series and once again had success. In 2023 he was one of four racers selected to Team USA for the International Six Days Enduro. The race has been held since 1913 and the US team has only won a few times with 2023 being one of them. Martinez brought his career full circle by returning to Loretta Lynn’s Amateur National to score moto wins and championships in Open Pro Sport and Junior 25+. The sheer diversity of his career has elevated him to legend status in the sport.

Now he brings his easy demeanor and intense work ethic to South Carolina where he will join the training staff for a variety of jobs including training the recently added KTM Offroad team and supporting all facets of the ClubMX professional and amateur groups when needed. The timing is perfect for Martinez who is married and has a seven-year-old daughter.

Martinez said: “When I first heard of this opportunity, it sounded like something I would like to pursue. I was familiar with ClubMX, their reputation is worldwide but had not been there. I was blown away when I finally made it to their facility. It is unlike anything I have ever seen, and I’ve been to some pretty cool places. I knew right away this was the right decision for me and my family and I am going to do everything I can to make them successful”.

Martinez jumps right in as the new year starts and training ramps up. It will not take him long to convert all his experience into the structured environment ClubMX is known for – expanding it now to the off-road series.
