Concord, NC SMX Playoff 1SuperMotocross World Championship

We have some good news from the Monster Energy/Pro Circuit Kawasaki camp. Cameron McAdoo announced on Instagram this afternoon he is returning to racing for the SuperMotocross World Championship (SMX) Playoffs this fall. McAdoo, who was in the 250SX East Region Championship fight until a shoulder injury at the Nashville Supercross ended his title fight, was healed up and ready for the start of the AMA Pro Motocross Championship just about a month after his injury. Then, he suffered a setback on the same shoulder he injured in Tennessee right before Pro Motocross started, forcing him out for the early rounds of the championship. Unfortunately, the injury ended up costing him his entire Pro Motocross season.

On August 8, McAdoo returned to riding and began prepping for the SMX Playoffs, as he officially qualified 23rd in the 250SMX combined AMA Supercross and Motocross points with a total of 120 points. Since McAdoo is in the 21st through 30th range, he does qualify for the SMX Playoffs, but in order to get into the two motos at each round he will first have to finish top two in all three LCQ races in order to start the motos. Here is his full post, then below that an update on the entire Monster Energy/Pro Circuit Kawasaki team and the 250SMX standings.

"Excited to announce that I will be making my return to racing next weekend for the SMX playoffs. It has been a long summer of watching the races so I can’t wait to be out there to finish off the year with some gate drops! See ya in Charlotte 🤙🏻
I might have to get ahold of my friend @phil_nicoletti for some pointers on these SMX LCQ’s 😂"

The Monster Energy/Pro Circuit Kawasaki is expected to have Levi Kitchen (second overall entering round one of SMX), Ty Masterpool (11th), and Garrett Marchbanks (19th) also compete in the SMX Playoffs, with only McAdoo (23rd) forced to the LCQ at each round. Austin Forkner’s 2024 season is over as he looks ahead to 2025 and Seth Hammaker had a shoulder injury of his own prior to Pro Motocross that we hear will keep him sidelined for at least another month or so.

Last year in the inaugural SMX season, Forkner qualified 31st in the SMX Playoff standings, but a handful of riders did not race the playoffs, so he managed to get into the LCQ races. He won the first LCQ race in North Carolina then finished 6-19 for 13th overall. However, Forkner did not race the final two SMX rounds.

Here is the top 35 250SMX standings, although we have not yet been able to confirm which riders are in for the playoffs and which riders are skipping them this year.
